    Looks lovely!!

But I’m Very concerned that obedience AND conformation are on the same day? How will conflicts be avoided? Isn’t there a way to do obedience on its own day??? It’s not really fair to the dogs or handlers to have to switch sports mid-stream.
    Thank you,

      Hi Dana,

If you go to the Schedule page, you will see that like our other performance events, obedience begins at 7:30 AM. This is to allow events that require physical exertion to take place in the coolest part of the day, and to hopefully provide some downtime before the dogs are involved in other endeavors.

We generally have a relative handful of obedience competitors, particularly at the higher levels, so there is usually time for the dogs to get a nap in. There are simply not enough participants to justify an entire day for obedience.

But not to worry, there is no overlap — obedience will be over before conformation begins.

We have been doing it this way for many years with no apparent detrimental effects. We often have the same hounds do very well in both competitions. I should point out that those who participate in both conformation and obedience regularly do both in the same day at all-breed shows.

I hope this serves to allay your concerns. Welcome to the wonderful world of Deerhounds!
